Resist & Persist

Bad Witch

'Resist & Persist': A group show of 33 international women, trans and non-binary sign painters by the Burds of the Brush gang.

This piece reimagines the iconic early 1900s cigarette packet aesthetic. Once exploited by capitalism and the patriarchy, pushing cigarettes as a false symbol of women's freedom. Charlotte chooses to reclaim this as a genuine emblem of rebellion, courage, and perseverance.

The wording borrowed from Kristal Sicodia, weavers of webs and stories, poet, bard and self proclaimed Bad Witch. Their voice remains defiant in the face of personal adversity and represents womxn worldwide who rise, speak, and resist those determined to silence them.

Showcased at The Grateful Gallery, Glasgow.
